Calorie Shifting Menu

The calorie shifting menu is one of the latest weight loss solutions crazes, although to be fair the calorie shifting theory has been around for many years. The calorie shifting theory is based on the premise that when you shift calories by eating different types of foods several times a day your metabolism will get "confused" and it will burn more calories than usual. By eating healthy food every few hours and eating till you just get satisfied, your body's metabolic rate (the rate at which the body burns calories) increases with the result that you lose weight.

When you calorie shift you have to follow a certain diet menu (no junk food allowed) for a number of days (usually 11 days). Subsequently you are allowed to take a number of days off (usually 3 days) before repeating the process (11 days following scheduled diet plan followed by 3 days off) and so on. During the off days you are allowed to eat whatever you like (even junk food), although it is not recommended that you overeat. It is important to note that when you follow this diet plan you are required to eat 4 or 5 times a day, so you will never really get hungry.

Contrary to what many people think, the calorie shifting diet is an easy diet to follow. First of all you eat 4 or 5 times a day, so it is very difficult to get hungry. Secondly calorie shifting does not require you to eat only proteins and no carbohydrates, like the Atkins Diet and other fad diets. Thirdly, you are allowed to eat anything you like for 3 days after an 11 day period, which means that you not really have to crave for your giant burger and doughnuts for such a long time. Some people try to skip the 3 days off and continue following the diet plan, but this is actually not recommended as it does not really help you lose weight more quickly.

Given the enormous amounts of diet systems available in the market, how does the calorie shifting menu system compare to other diet systems? First of all let me start by saying that there exists no perfect diet system and after all many diet systems have a lot in common. Secondly a diet system should not be judged only by how much weight can you lose over a certain amount of time if you follow that particular diet system. For example, many people are advocates of the Atkins Diet since it does really work for a lot of people, or let me rephrase many people really lose weight after following the Atkins Diet. The only problem is that the Atkins Diet can be very dangerous for you health since it is a high protein, high fat, high cholesterol and no carbohydrate based diet. The truth is that the body needs a certain amount of carbohydrates for it to function properly, however high fat content and high cholesterol content foods can only harm the body in the long run. Therefore the main advantage of the calorie shifting menu over the Atkins Diet and other similar diets is that it does not harm your body if you follow this type of diet.
